West Scarborough Neighbourhood Community Centre – Programs for All Ages

West Scarborough made it to the top floor last Friday. 🏛️✨ The Indigenous Youth Outreach Program (IYOP) was back at McCarthy Tétrault with a brand new group of youth who spent the past few weeks diving deep into restorative justice and Indigenous practices in the criminal justice system. They brought it all together with their very own mock trial and absolutely delivered. We couldn’t be prouder of how far this group has come. Week 3 of The Neighbours Project was another great Sunday at WSNCC 🎨🏡 We were proud to see so many neighbours came together to try this week’s new art activities. With karaoke, beading workshops, printmaking, Neighbourhood Heroes, and some incredible caricature drawings, we had creativity happening in every corner of the building. We were also excited to continue our backpack giveaways, sending more community members home with art supplies to keep the creativity going 🎒💚 Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the afternoon so special. Seeing neighbours connect, create, and share space together is what this project is all about. And we’re not done yet… our final Neighbours Project event is happening on March 22. WSNCC operates on land that is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. We acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaties signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands. We also acknowledge all Treaty peoples – including those who came here as settlers – as migrants either in this generation or in generations past and those who came here involuntarily, particularly as a result of the trans-Atlantic slave trade.
