NADINE PENDLETON
EDUCATIONAL BURSARY FUND
The West Scarborough Neighbourhood Community Centre is pleased to offer an educational bursary in memory of Nadine Pendleton. Nadine contributed over 40 years of service to the West Scarborough Neighbourhood Community Centre before she sadly passed away on August the 26th of 2015. She was a loyal and valued employee and was always appreciated for her experience as a colleague and friend and it is with sadness, but great hope that this scholarship will offer support and inspire excellence in her memory.
Eligibility to Apply:
- Must be applying for support to pursue post-secondary education (e-learning courses are acceptable) for any eligible year of attendance at any recognized University, College or Ministry approved Private College or training facility.
- Provide proof of acceptance into the University, College or training facility.
- Be a member, volunteer or staff of the West Scarborough Neighbourhood Community Centre.
- Be registered in a full time program when the award is issued.
Application Process:
- Ensure that you meet all eligibility requirements.
- Submit one written evaluation or letter of reference from a suitable referee (e.g. a teacher or counsellor familiar with your work and goals).
- Submit a 500-1000 word essay, answering the following question:
a) How has being part of the West Scarborough Neighbourhood Community Centre prepared you for post-secondary education?
b) What do you hope to accomplish while attending the educational facility?
c) If you receive the bursary how do you plan to use the funds?

BGC Canada (BGCC) is pleased to offer several post-secondary scholarships to eligible youth members and Club staff planning to enter, or returning to, full-time or part-time post-secondary at an accredited school.
Eligibility to Apply:
- Be a current or former BGC Club member for a minimum of 1 year
- Be a maximum of 24 years of age at the time of application.
- Be pursuing some form of full-time or part-time post-secondary education (e.g. college, CEGEP, university or trades school; diploma, degree, apprenticeship, or other program) at an accredited post-secondary institution in Canada beginning September 2024
- Program must be one year in length at minimum.

Youth of the Year (YOY) is a national competition at BGC Clubs that celebrates youth achievements, service, and leadership in Clubs, schools, and communities. The purpose of the YOY role is to act as a BGC Clubs youth ambassador, speaking passionately to corporate partners and other audiences about the organization and its impact.
Each year, Club members from across Canada apply to become Youth of the Year. From the submissions, six Club members are selected as Regional Youth of the Year, followed by one youth demonstrating exceptional leadership, service, and achievement to receive additional recognition as BGC Canada’s National Youth of the Year. This year, we have also added an Indigenous Youth of the Year category, who will be chosen alongside the Regional Youth of the Year.

Winners of the YOY competition are awarded the following prizes:
- Regional Youth of the Year:
- $2,000 CAD scholarship to apply to post-secondary education
- One personal laptop
- Indigenous Youth of the Year:
- $2,000 CAD scholarship to apply to post-secondary education
- One personal laptop
- National Youth of the Year:
- Additional $8,000 CAD scholarship to apply to post-secondary education (total of $10,000 CAD)
TED ROGERS
SCHOLARSHIP FUND

BGC Canada (BGCC) is pleased to offer several post-secondary scholarships to eligible youth members and Club staff planning to enter, or returning to, full-time or part-time post-secondary at an accredited school.
Eligibility to Apply:
- A Canadian citizen or permanent resident, age 25 or younger.
- Be planning to enter the first year into full-time studies in a first bachelor’s degree or first diploma program or first trades program at a Canadian university, college or trades school in the 2024-2025 academic year.
- Have a minimum cumulative average of 70% (or equivalent) over the last three terms of available marks*. Non- academic courses such as career or personal development-related courses will not be considered.
- Program must be a minimum of two years in duration for a bachelor degree or diploma program or a minimum of one year in duration for a trades program.

GRADE 10 SCHOLARSHIPS

BGC Canada and Best Buy Canada are pleased to offer the Best Buy Canada Grade 10 scholarships to eligible Club members in Grade 10 across Canada. Best Buy Canada Grade 10 scholarships aim to increase the chances of BGC youth graduating from high school and enrolling in post-secondary education.
Eligibility to Apply:
- Must be a Club member for a minimum of one year
- Must be in grade 10/secondary 3 at the time of the application (2023-24 school year)
STORWELL
FOSTER CHILDREN BURSARY
APPLICATIONS OPEN
The Storwell Self Storage Foster Children Bursary Program has been running for over 10 years in order to support foster children as they pursue post-secondary education. Storwell is a family run business spanning three generations that has been providing quality self-storage in Toronto and the GTA over 20 years.
Eligibility to Apply:
- Applicant must have been a foster child with an official Canadian or American foster care program and agrees to having the above organization verify the same. Youth who were involved in kinship care or other alternative living situations can also receive consideration for this award.
- Youth who were part of a Children’s Aid Society (CAS) agency or similar program will also be eligible to apply for this award.
- Applicant will be enrolled as a full-time student at a recognized general/ vocational College or post-secondary institution in Canada or USA by the start of the next school semester.
- Applicant must be a Canadian or American Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Applicant must be 24 years of age or less at the time of application.
